“The evidence supporting sports participation for young people is overwhelming... It has the power to combat everything from racism to low self-image, to the high-school drop-out rate.”

SAVE
OUR
STUDENT-
ATHLETES
Save Our Student Athletes began in April of 2010 when Keshia Baker witnessed her home school district in California completely eliminate after-school athletic programs in response to budget cuts. Having experienced these programs firsthand, Keshia understood their importance on an individual, family, and community level. She recognized her unique opportunity to have an impact by taking action against the negative effects felt by not only The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, but schools and districts across the nation. After bringing this idea to her friend and teammate Eric Hersey SOSA was born.
SOSA aims to create adaptable support for after-school athletics by providing the necessary resources to maintain extra-curricular athletic programs whether those needs be monetary, for those schools with established infrastructures, material, for those in need of specific equipment or space, or human, for those in need of volunteers or coaches.
Thank you for your interest,
SAVE OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES!
SOSA is constantly looking for ways to give back to the community and create safe environments in which students have the chance to participate in athletic activities. We have found tremendous support in the communities we work with and we have made innumerable local connections. Our organization is concerned with the well-being of communities as a whole and aims to help by providing the youth with healthy physical and mental athletic activities. We love to hear what you have to say, please contact us for more information or ways to get involved.
Sincerely,
Keshia Baker and Eric Hersey
